It took someone long enough to finally do this. After I heard the album myself, one of my favorite’s so far this year, I was hoping someone would make the connection. Thank God for Terry Urban.
To protect my position, my corner, my layer
While we out here, say the “Hustlers Prayer”
If the game shakes me or breaks me
I hope it makes me a better man
Take a better stand
Put money in my mom’s hand
Get my daughter this college plan so she don’t need no man
Stay far from timid
Only make moves when your heart’s in it
And live the phrase “sky’s the limit…
RIP Christopher Wallace ‘See You Chumps On Top’
I can’t be the only one who got the goosebumps when the beginning of Juicy started to play. RIP BIG. <>
The Notorious B.I.G. - Going Back To Cali (Viceroy Jet Life Remix)
No bullshit, this is pretty hot.
DC artist Demont Peekaso is painting the Hip Hop Mount Rushmore. As you can see it is missing one more artist. You can click here to vote. As you can see he currently as Pac, Big, and Jay but he missing someone else. The nominees are:
Eminem
Ice Cube
Nas
Kanye West
Big Daddy Kane
Kool G. Rap
KRS-One
Lil’ Wayne
Almost everyone who reads this would probably assume I voted for Wayne. Wrong, Greatest rappers of all time? Eminem of course. Right now Em and Nas are neck and neck. Get your votes up.
Notorious BIG & Bone Thugs N Harmony - Notorious Thugs
The Smoking Section had a great article today about 33 Rapid-Fire Songs in Hip Hop. This song came in around 9. I am proud to say that even after all this time, I can still spit all of BIG’s verse from memory, but I slip up half way through Bizzy’s verse (second verse). Shit in high school I could do the whole song, not anymore. This is what TSS had to say about that: If you don’t know at least Frank White’s part, you should go back to Hip-Hop 101 and brush up on your history. I couldn’t agree more TSS.
Damn this is some real Wire shit. This is the hip hop equivalent of when Bey admitted to all those murders in the towers and got sent up for life in the pokey, only once he was inside Avon and Stringer chucked him the deuce and to get revenge Bey starts naming names and dropping dimes on everyone in the Barksdale Empire….you know what, fuck it. I’m gonna go back to watching The Wire again. S1Ep6.
Doo Wop dropped a mixtape of Bigge, Nas & Jay-Z rapping over 80s instrumentals. Which pretty much means this is going to be dope. Let this be part of your soundtrack for the summer folks. Enjoy.
Classic Biggie & Tupac freestyle. Probably the BEST freestyle in hip hop history. If you pay attention enough, you might even catch me spitting Biggie’s 16 when I am in full concentration mode. Classic shit
