Nicki Minaj - Stupid Hoe

I haven’t been impressed with Nicki’s output in a very long time….like a YEAR. She spit hot fiya (c) Dylan, on that Monster verse and after that I was just waiting for her album to drop and set the rap world on fire. Then she dropped, spitting tired old flows, I was disappointed. Then for the past year, to me, she became a parody of herself, saying nothing interesting and using that supadupa flow like a fucking crutch. It annoyed the shit out of me.

This past weekend I heard her spit on Willow Smith’s new shit. It was no Monster verse, but hey she refrained from using the Supa Dupa flow, save for one line, but you know what it was dope, I let it pass…..Then this song found it’s way into my in box.

Again it’s no Monster verse, but damn, I am happy to hear Nicki getting back to her roots. Everything I liked about her, crazy rap style, funny voices, punchlines, she brings it, and she uses great restrain to keep from using the Supa Dupa Flow. Needless to say, my excitement to hear new Nicki Minaj is heating up. Now if we can get a Charli Baltimore/Nicki Minaj song dissing Queen Bee. I might be happy.

Today was a HUGE day for hip hop with several highly anticipated albums dropping today. Let’s not forget November also, since it was a huge month for hip hop also seeing several other much anticipated albums dropping. I’m here to run down the best to the worst.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

This is by far my favorite of the bunch. I posted the, hands down, BEST SONG on the album ‘All of the Lights’. I have been listening to this song on repeat since downloading the album at midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. It has quickly become one of my favorite songs ever because of those horns. I remember Yeezy talking about how he bite the drums off Xxplosive once, if any producer is smart he would be biting the SHIT out of those horns. Seriously, Go Here and cop it full price or Go Here and cop it for a $1. ‘All Of The Lights’ is worth the 14.99. And before you think I am just dick riding Yeezy, let me be the first to tell you I thought the Runaway movie was a pretentious ego-driven, high concept student film. In other words, I hated it.

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon II

Another CD everyone should have in the collection. Before Kanye dropped yesterday, I had this on a constant rotation, with Maniac getting 3 spins before moving on. It builds on the foundation of the first album and gets better. Hell I’m even fucking with Erase Me and I thought that was a terrible song when it dropped. Worth every penny.

Currency Tha Hot Spitta - Pilot Talk II

This CD also dropped yesterday, sadly I fear it will get pushed aside without anyone checking it out. Hell I am guilty of pushing it aside, I bought it yesterday and I have YET to give it a spin. Thankfully I have been following the single and knowing Hot Spiita’s history I know the CD is hot fire, word to Dylan.

Lloyd Banks - The Hunger For More 2

Banks is back and hungrier than ever. With little support from Five Oh, Banks went out and actually put together a decent CD, I was gonna cop it, but then I realized I had a majority of the songs due to leakage. I’ve never been a huge Banks fan, but it’s good hip hop and deserves to get recognized.

N.E.R.D - Nothing

I bought this CD at the same time I bought Cudders. Which means I have yet to listen to it, and I’ll be honest, unless a song comes on random while I am running at the gym, chances are I wont go looking to play. Sorry Pharrell, you’re my boy and all, but come on, look at this list, you couldn’t compare, Yeezy gots Pusha T on the album.

And the worst for last……sadly….

Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday

Now on principal alone, I must say everyone should cop it because its YM/CMB and I fucks with Wayne and them like that. However, if you are expecting to hear Mixtape Nicki, that bitch you heard on Monster when she outshined Rozay, not a hard task, and made people forget Hov was on the song, sadly she stepped out. It isn’t a bad CD, it just isn’t good enough. It reminds me of how people reacted to Drake’s album. People were expecting some hot shit and instead got some R&B mixed with rap, the difference is Drizzy actually had a good CD. Sorry Nicki. Another thing that annoyed me was that no one told her that Big Sean flow is dead, corpse. The way she spitting it almost every bar, she unfortunately revamped it to be Nicki’s flow, period. (Let that one sink in, quick sand) (sorry, tiger woods) Anyway, joking aside. There are a handful of songs that are decent, but the majority are forgettable. Roman’s Revenge will get some spins but that is largely due because Eminem murders the track, Dexter.

In the end, all these cds good or bad are a win for hip hop. Of course Yeezy, Cudder, and Hot Spitta are home runs. Cop them, you won’t regret it.

I miss the old Lil Kim. She was better looking, her rhymes were sharp (even though biggie was writing for her), and she was hottest shit in the streets (pre-Lauren Hill). I remember watching this video and before the end of song I was out the door to buy the CD. If you look closely you will see a cameo from Baby Girl (RIP Aaliyah). I love this video/song.

Oh yeah, the reason i am posting this is because the interwebs is a fire with word of this brewing Nicki Minaj/Lil Kim beef. This is how i see it: 96’ Lil Kim > Nicki Minaj, ‘10 Lil Kim < Nicki Minaj. Sorry like but to steal a line from Jay, ‘[She took your style] you was using it wrong, you made it a hot line, [she] made it a hot song’. Call Puff, who is currently not fucking with you, and get the number of the ghostwriter he used for ‘All I do is win [remix]’ and ‘O Let’s Do It [remix]’. He’ll make your shit tighter.
