Yeah I lost my shit when he started to play the instrumental for ‘Waiting For Detox’. I knew he couldn’t resist a surprise appearance from Kendrick who was there the day before. No the surprise for me was Danny Brown. I think I was one of the only ones who knew Kendrick’s whole verse. Damn, what a great day.

If I had won the $640 Million Dollar lottery I would PAID Dre to let me be a fly on the wall during a studio session. Even if he charged me the full $640 million it would have been well worth it.

New music from the kid who is reminding the world the West Coast hasn’t fallen off, featuring the Dr they tell you to go see when your record sells aren’t doing to well. I’m already anticipating K. Dot’s performance at Coachella, his debut album, hearing this song at Coachella, most likely on Sunday night, Detox, but most importantly I can’t wait for those summer nights at dusk when you are heading out to buy some more alcohol for the pool party where all the girls are dressed in next to nothing, the grill is steady cooking the best meats, and you hop in your car, drive down Clinton St real slow blasting this song on your way to Sherman’s Liquor, passing the girls in the cut offs who turn their heads to see who is bumping that good shit from Dre.

If you haven’t experienced something like this in your town, come down with me for one of my family summer parties………and that’s what makes this song a hit to me. Because it can evoke those kind of memories from me. Like the song says: We got the women, weed, and weather….Welcome to LA.

Reminiscing when the LA Raiders
Was in my home, snapback fitted on my uncle’s dome

And I don’t condone dickriding,I’m addicted to
Westsiding,
living in a city where the skinny niggas die
And the semi bullets fly, but it turn me to a lion
Trying, and I mean that shit

As much as I love Game, The Red Album, and this song, yo Kendrick steals the show with the last verse. Rapid fire with the deliver, like bullets from the AK, with just as much power. TDE, Black Hippy, LA Muthafuckers!

Kendrick Lamar talks about his new album, working with Dre and working with Game. Look Out For Detox.

Karen Civil interviews Kendrick Lamar on various topics including the MTV Hottest MC Snub (I have my own opinions on that list), ScHoolboy Q, the death of Alori Joy, and working with Dre & Pharrell.

The most interesting part for me about this interview was the last question where they asked him about the records he made with Dre for Detox. He says they made 10 hot songs in 3 days, but only 1 MAYBE is worthy of being on Detox. That’s not saying that Kendrick Lamar is not a good artist or those Dre beats are weak, it is saying that Dre is such a perfectionist that out of 10 tracks, a whole fucking CD worth of music, only 1 is good enough to be MAYBE featured on Detox. When Detox drops, hip hop will forever be changed. It will never be released.

FUPM - Alright Alright

3 Generations of Aftermath recording artists. Bobby Creekwater, Stat Quo & Kendrick Lamar. The song is hot, K Dot in the video is cool, but we could get a remix laced with a 16 from Kendrick Lamar. Damn…….aside from that enjoy the video.

Best of 2011: Verses

3. Kendrick Lamar - Rigamortus

Kendrick Lamar has been on fire this year. He dropped probably one of the best, if not THE best album of the year in #Section.80, he is going on tour with Drizzy, he got this remix was Busta, and Dr Dre of all people, not only co-signed him, but closed down shop on Detox for a year to take him under his wing and craft a classic album filled with rejected Detox classic records. He is a name and a person everyone should be watching out for in 2012.

This song, Rigamortus (remix), is one of my favorite songs off #Section.80. The jazzy horns, the quick flow, the word play. If you have to listen to one song from K.Dot, it should be be this one. My favorite verse comes at the end, the 3rd verse, it begins:

I rapped him and made him Casper, I captured the likes of NASA
My pedigree to fly past ya, I pass the weed to the pastor
We all are sinners, won’t you send us to bible study faster
Your hypocrite-esque reaction a blasphemy
The verse only gets better after that. I’m not the only fan of this song/verse. Pharrell co-signed him as well, said he loves the end of this song. Damn, not it looks like I’ll be listening to this album not for the rest of the day. That’s not a complaint.
