I know they won’t play this song since it isn’t an ‘official’ release, but got damn would it be awesome to hear it live, especially if/when the crowd sings Nate Dogg’s verse:

Give me that bomb in-stru-mental/Straight from gangbang central

RIP Nate Dogg Coachella won’t be the same without.

Karen Civil interviews Kendrick Lamar on various topics including the MTV Hottest MC Snub (I have my own opinions on that list), ScHoolboy Q, the death of Alori Joy, and working with Dre & Pharrell.

The most interesting part for me about this interview was the last question where they asked him about the records he made with Dre for Detox. He says they made 10 hot songs in 3 days, but only 1 MAYBE is worthy of being on Detox. That’s not saying that Kendrick Lamar is not a good artist or those Dre beats are weak, it is saying that Dre is such a perfectionist that out of 10 tracks, a whole fucking CD worth of music, only 1 is good enough to be MAYBE featured on Detox. When Detox drops, hip hop will forever be changed. It will never be released.

Detox is never coming out. Not when shit as awesome as this is announced. So far Detox has ‘official’ guest appearances from: Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Game, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Lil Wayne, Drake, Jay-Z, Akon, Lady GaGa, Slimm Tha Mobsta, Bishop Lamont, Slaughterhouse, T.I., Ludacris, Rick Ross, and Young Jeezy. Now those are just the ‘official’ list that I can remember off the top of my dome. I know there are more. I’m pretty sure Detox is going to be a double disc. posted on 31.01.12

Best of 2011: Verses

3. Kendrick Lamar - Rigamortus

Kendrick Lamar has been on fire this year. He dropped probably one of the best, if not THE best album of the year in #Section.80, he is going on tour with Drizzy, he got this remix was Busta, and Dr Dre of all people, not only co-signed him, but closed down shop on Detox for a year to take him under his wing and craft a classic album filled with rejected Detox classic records. He is a name and a person everyone should be watching out for in 2012.

This song, Rigamortus (remix), is one of my favorite songs off #Section.80. The jazzy horns, the quick flow, the word play. If you have to listen to one song from K.Dot, it should be be this one. My favorite verse comes at the end, the 3rd verse, it begins:

I rapped him and made him Casper, I captured the likes of NASA
My pedigree to fly past ya, I pass the weed to the pastor
We all are sinners, won’t you send us to bible study faster
Your hypocrite-esque reaction a blasphemy
The verse only gets better after that. I’m not the only fan of this song/verse. Pharrell co-signed him as well, said he loves the end of this song. Damn, not it looks like I’ll be listening to this album not for the rest of the day. That’s not a complaint.

The Co-Sign from the good Doctor and the Big Homie, you know I’ll be copping that shit tonight on iTunes. Of course the real excitement for me doesn’t coming from the co-sign for a great new west coast artist, but….did anyone else notice, Snoop and Dre were in the studio with Fred Wreck? That means Fred Wreck is helping produce some of Detox? Which means Kurupt and Snoop will have a song together? With Nate Dogg? My mind is running through all possible scenarios and i’m excited for it. Until then, cop Jay Rock’s album Follow Me Home cop that Watch The Throne next week, then keep your ears open for Detox.

“Dre’s album is definitely the most important thing right now, because he is definitely in the final stretch. He has the record going, but I’m sure he thinks there are pieces missing still. Until he finds those pieces, maybe he’s not comfortable putting it out yet… It’s definitely a West Coast sound — more futuristic West Coast sound — at least from what I’ve turned in. I don’t know what he’s keeping, though.”

— DJ Khalil on Detox…I am still convinced this is going to be the game changing Hip Hop album that everyone is waiting for.

“Because when I seen Andre, I told him, “Man, you Dr. Dre! No matter what you do, what you put out, all that shit you play for me is banging, you’re Dr. Dre. What we gotta do is get back in this motherfuckin’ studio, pull out that motherfuckin’ weed, bring these bitches, and all these bomb-ass musicians and get in there and create like we used to.” That’s my version, that’s how I felt.”

— Warren G on his feelings about the delayed Detox album…..It’s coming.

Dr. Dre/Eminem - Die Hard

The games over, when Detox drops thats it. No more rap, no more hip hop. Nothing will ever live up to it. Greatest Hip Hop Album Of All Time.
